Young Peoples Counselling
Do you have concerns about a teenager?
Perhaps they are acting out and you just don’t know what to do next? Maybe they have been through a difficult experience recently or in the past and need some help processing what happened to them. They may be feeling anxious and lacking in confidence.
Specialist Young Peoples Counselling can help
My Approach
I build a warm rapport with your teenager by finding out what they are interested in and not pressurising them to talk until they are ready.
Once they begin to feel safe and trust me, I enable them to explore how they are feeling and what is troubling them with a variety of approaches for them to choose from. This allows them to process what has happened to them and gives them new insight.
In addition I help them develop skills to be able to regulate their emotions and grow in self confidence.

My Qualifications and Experience
Having qualified as I counsellor, I worked for 5 years for TIC+ an organization offering free counselling to teens in Gloucestershire. This provided a lot of additional training relevant to working with young people such as self-harm, managing stress etc. I went on to work as a counsellor in a number of secondary schools in Cheltenham from Pates Grammar to All Saints Academy and I’ve continued to worked with teenagers in private practice.
Prior to that I worked part time as primary school teacher for many years and was also involved with young people in various church settings; for example leading the older youth for Trinity Church Cheltenham, leading youth weekends, heading up pastoral prayer ministry for young people at a large annual family conference called New Wine.
